Last weekend I attended an event at the Jo Malone store in Chichester as part of the launch of their English Oak fragrance. The whole event was such a dream, I feel so lucky to have been invited and had such a wonderful afternoon with some lovely local bloggers.
After a smooth start with some bubbles, chocolates and a good natter there was an amazing presentation of the new scents. This is the first time English Oak has been used as part of a fragrance and I honestly can’t believe it hasn’t before. It’s such a British icon and the smell really takes me back to childhood memories of camping and woodland adventures with my family.
I really loved being able to experience the individual components of the two English Oak scents, with English Oak, Hazlenut and Redcurrant all being passed around individually before smelling the finished combined fragrances. English Oak and Hazelnut was my personal favourite (which was quite the surprise!) Both were really beautiful though nd have an incredibly autumnal feel to them.
We then learnt all about the art of fragrance combining and using complimenting shower gels and body cream before adding the fragrance to create a personal and unique scent – which I loved! I feel this is what helps make Jo Malone such an iconic brand that you can just keep going back to, mixing different scents to suit your mood or a specific occasion.
For my hand and arm massage I chose Wild Bluebell for my combining scent to go with the English Oak and Hazlenut. The Wild Bluebell really lifted the woody scent to give it a fresher vibe and kind of reminds me of walking through the woods when there’s been bit of rain in the air.
The complimentary hand and arm massage was an amazing experience… I kind of wish I could go and get these every day. Best of all my arms smelt incredible – I just couldn’t stop smelling them afterwards!! It also lasted such a long time, with the scent still faintly noticeable when I woke up the next morning.
The whole store in Chichester is so beautiful it’s impossible not to get a little swept away. Nordic Twigs arranges florals for the store and these were some of the most beautiful bouquets I’ve ever seen. They also had the most wonderful scones provided by Wild Mint Cafe – I think I could have eaten the whole platter! I also loved that the bubbles included a beautiful redcurrant flavour to compliment the English Oak scents, this was such a lovely touch.
To finish of the event we had an amazing tutorial in how to wrap up our beautiful complimentary scents in the Jo Malone way. This included how to tie the perfect bow and then stamp our boxes to compliment the English Oak theme with oak leaves and beautiful little fairies. We were also given some gorgeous leather leaves that we sprayed with each of the fragrances which helped adorn the beautiful English Oak bag. This whole part of the day was a bit of a dream for me, as if you read my blog regularly you’ll probably know just how much I love wrapping in general.
The whole event was amazing and definitely one of my favourites ever, not just because of all the lovely things we got to do, but also all the amazing bloggers that attended. I can be quite shy when I first meet people but everyone made me feel so welcome. Also, a special shout out to Katie Kirk for the invite to the event and all her hard work helping to make it happen – you’re a star!
Thanks so much for reading, as always. Let me know what your favourite Jo Malone fragrance is in the comments!
