Today I’ve really been pondering how it’s the simple things that make us happy and for me this is optimised by the simple notion of breakfast in bed. There’s no greater feeling than waking up to a perfect up of tea and toast smothered in your favourite raspberry jam.
It’s the perfect opportunity to feel completely calm before a busy day and really enjoy your breakfast. I find most days of the week I’m rushing out the door with toast in hand or wolfing down a bowl of yoghurt whilst I try and straighten my hair. Breakfast in bed is the perfect weekend luxury. It’s so important to sit back sometimes and just love everything you have.
Not going to lie though, another reason for my sudden breakfast in bed obsession is probably this tray I picked up on my recent visit to Bluebelle & Co in Brighton. It’s such a pretty thing and I’m so pleased I got it as it’s really inspired me to try and enjoy breakfast in bed more often. It’s funny how such a small thing can make such a difference to your life isn’t it?
Of course breakfast in bed wouldn’t be complete without flowers and these were just a few that I picked from the garden. If you don’t have a garden, grabbing some cheap gypsophila (also called baby’s breath) or carnations from your local supermarket also works a treat and this can then spend the rest of the week brightening up your dining table/desk so it’s a win-win.
So, let’s not just reserve breakfast in bed for special occasions. Let’s just do it because we can… so long as you promise to not get crumbs in the bed.
