So, first off I want to know why nobody told me about this before?! Turns out Feel Unique have a service where you can pick 5 sample items and get them delivered to your door for just a £3.95 shipping and handling fee! It’s also called Pick’n’Mix which is a really adorable name. I love trying out a new product and some of the samples they have on here are amazing. You can order your samples once a month and if you decide to later buy a full size product, you can use your £3.95 towards it. Another great thing about this is that the products seem to regularly change, as it took me a few weeks of checking back before I finally placed my first order, by which time new products had emerged. This will be great for trying out different products month to month! Anyway, I thought I’d write a little review of the products I picked.
NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint (2ml)
The first product I selected was the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint. I love so many NARS products and have wanted to try one of their foundations for ages. Despite not being the one I want to try, I figured this was still worth a shot at getting an idea for their base products. As it was only available in Alaska (samples remember) that’s what I got and I must admit I did think it was probably going to be a bit too dark for my pale skin. I was however pleasantly surprised that it seemed to suit my skin tone quite well and balanced it out evenly, whilst maintaining a makeup free look and feel. It smelt good, went on really lightly and I’m actually really happy with it! It’s perfect if you’re looking for something with very minimal coverage just to warm your face up in the morning. A full size product costs £30 for 50ml. This has definitely spurred me on to try some of their full coverage foundations in the future.
Nude by Nature Perfecting Concealer (2ml)
I’m fast running out of concealer so I thought this would be a good shout for my second choice for my Feel Unique Pick’n’Mix box. The colour that was available was ivory so I thought I’d give it a go. This concealer was actually a really pleasant surprise and worked well at brightening my skin without creasing. Nude by Nature are an Australian brand which I’ve never used before, but so far I’m impressed. For a 5.9ml tube of the Perfecting Concealer it would cost £20.
My Burberry Eau de Parfum (2ml)
I couldn’t do a sample order and not get a new fragrance to try could I? Also, these small little spritzy vial things that perfumes samples come in are the perfect addition to your handbag on a night out, so I always get very excited to add to my collection. After recently seeing the beautiful The Tale of Thomas Burberry advert I’ve been feeling a lot of love for this brand so this was my next choice. My Burberry is supposed to capture the fragrance of a London garden after the rain and I definitely get this vibe when I wear it. It’s quite a subtle floral and would make a lovely everyday, classic scent so I was really pleased I picked this!
Some perfume info that doesn’t mean that much to me:
- Top notes: Bergamot, mandarin orange, sweet pea
- Heart notes: Freesia, quince, geranium
- Base notes: Rose, damask rose, patchouli
You can pick this fragrance up from £44 for 30ml at Feel Unique and I’ll definitely consider purchasing once my little sample has run out.
Burt’s Bees Intense Hydration Night Cream (4.2g)
My skin is definitely feeling the colder days, so a change to my skincare routine is on the cards. I already love Burt’s Bees for their lovely lip balms and hand creams (especially the one that smells like banana) and this Intense Hydration Night Cream was no exception. It felt so lovely on my skin and throughout the next day my skin felt so much softer, with my makeup applying more evenly as well. It is hard to know with this after only a small sample but I feel like buying a full size (£19.99 for 50ml) could be a lifesaver for my skin this winter.
bareMinerals Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss (2.25ml)
The bareMinerals Marvellous Moxie Lipgloss was by far my favourite Pick’n’Mix choice. I got this in Maverick which is slightly darker than nude, with a really autumnal feel to it, which I just love. I feel like this colour is also super versatile with a very subtle sparkle that’s perfect for day or night. Most importantly, it glides on really smoothly and isn’t at all tacky – the thing I usually hate most about lipgloss. I tend to be more of a lipstick fan, but this lipgloss just really surprised me. It also gives a very slight tingle for just the right amount of plumping. Most of all I love this because the sample contains HALF of what you’d receive when buying a full size one (4.5ml for £17.00!) At £3.95 for all 5 of the Feel Unique Pick’n’Mix items this makes it an absolute steal.
I’m so so happy with all my product samples from Feel Unique. Pick’n’Mix is such a great concept and I can’t wait to try it agin next month. I now just need to decide what to use my £3.95 voucher towards!
Thanks so much for reading. Have you used the Pick’n’Mix feature before? How do you feel about sample products? Let me know in the comments!
